    Bayley Charles William

There is another article on the 17 February 1900 which is a prelude to this one when they were also visited (coincidently by a constable Bailey) and accused of neglect. It says they were nearly sent to gaol then but were given 6 weeks to reform, which they obviously didn't. Strangely there is...

So many tantalising snippets with no one to explain them. Florence appears to have died in 1966, so not that long after the Christening.

Great Lister Street and surrounding streets.

Address is listed as 41 Great Lister St in the 1970s newspapers. I'd assume the building is still there. Possibly had another premises in Church Lane, West Bromwich.

No apparent birth reg. and possibly something a little more complicated going on. Two elder brothers, Edgar & Robert emigrated...

I'd guess that the main reason the British Army was in Egypt at that time was to protect the Suez Canal.

Are you looking for personal memories or help with research? First apparent sign of the family outside of Jersey is when the son, Adolphus, marries in 1919 (Shropshire).

    The 'Woodman' West Bromwich

If I'm reading the below map correctly (assuming arrow points to the right pub) West Brom to the left of dashed line Bham to the right, then it appears to have been in Bham. Map is from 1959, link to full map below... https://maps.nls.uk/view/210967074#zoom=3.0&lat=3134&lon=2594&layers=BT
