chinny chin, I remember Fox Hollies Road well, a cousin lived there. My son will be shocked to learn the Fox Hollies Pub is now a supermarket !!! As I mentioned before, Hall Green was a lovely place for the kids to grow up in. In the 70's we spent holidays in this part of Devon and decided...

    Where is This? 146

I remember a Blue Coat School. The grounds ran alongside Harborne Hill and continued into Metchley Lane/Somerset Road. There was an International gathering of Girl Guides in the grounds of the school around about 1947 and that's how I remember it. Anthea.

    Wrensons shops

There was also a Wrensons shop in Highfield Road, Yardley Wood the Hall Green border. If customers left their shopping list, it would be made up and delivered to their homes later. The Manager, a Mr Parrek, was a neighbour of ours (he didn't let us have any 'cheapies' though! Anthea.

Who did you have on your bedroom wall... ?

I had a pic of Marlon Brando pinned to the inside of my wardrobe door. I couldn't understand what he was mumbling about in his films, but that didn't matter, I just loved looking at him!!! Anthea.

    Keep Out The Horse Road

Brumgum, what great pics. It's amazing watching people dodging between the carriages and the odd car; so busy too. My Mom used to tell me to 'mind how you cross the 'orse road ', but only our baker had a horse and cart when I was little! Anthea:)

    No Added Sugar

I have Type 2 diabetes and know how distressing it is to be given that news. I think Fibi has done a wonderful thing in writing her book to help other young people to come to terms with this condition. Well Done Fibi and Best Wishes for the future. Anthea:)

    Eric's Paintng

Eric, Lovely paintings. I especially like the St Philips painting because I used to walk past the Cathedral on my way to the Art Gallery during my lunch hour. I expect you already know about the stained glass windows in the Cathedral being designed by Burne-Jones (a Brummie) and manufactured...

    Co.Op.number.

My mother shopped at the Co-op, in the 1940s, by the Punch Bowl pub, Ridgacre Road, Quinton. Her number was 175855. The Co-op is popular here in Paignton and there is a large store in Plymouth. A quarterly magazine is produced by the Co-op and I sent them an article about my memories of...

A pure guess, and probably a bad one - is it Livery Street off Colmore Row? I thought that might be St. Philips Cathedral in the background. Anthea.
