    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

This picture is perhaps the one which shows how it has changed down Broad Street, which once was a row of old shops and antiques stores has now become and row of restaurants and bars. The original building has been kept fortunately which has not always happened

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

Although we have seen this building before I think another picture would not harm. The Crown on Broad street with its clock tower although the walls of the ICC looming over it shows how it has changed around there. A quick look on Google street view shows how the frontage has been ruined and...

Next an interesting view emphasising the high of the Hyatt Hotel, and also that the House of Sport / Registry office is still there. It took a number of years before it was removed. If you are aware of the current location you notice the road layout and the lack of tram tracks.

next is a shot down Hockley Street from the corner of Vyse Street, I reffered to the " Ltd" on the wall previously. This row of buildings has more of a similar build design, and a large brick built building is very impressive. We can see that the second building dowen has had a doorway bricked...

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

If we turn around in the previous image we come to this view - cast iron urinal, a once common and essential part of the street scene for some. Rather bland background which has changed these days with the Jewellery Quarter Metro station to the left of theurinal, which is still there but looking...

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

I will put these last two together as one is rather poor but it leads onto the other - Bull Street from High Street, I am not sure it is particularly rare as I have a slide of a this or a similar location and if I have one then the rest of you must have seen one!!, The first image shows the age...

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

Moving onto Paradise Street now and somewhere else which has under gone change - from the centre building with the three eaves all the building to the left have disappeared and not for the best, another glass fronted box with no real architectural merit - not compared with what was there...

Back into the city Centre and the Waterloo Bar in New Street, love the large sign for Billiards, and the large portico which is an imposing look, top end of New street - is this where the RBSA is / was - hard to locate as all my reference addresses have moved - was going to say near the...
