    The Windsor Pub Cannon St.

Oh my God! Good grief, I've nearly brought my breakfast up! Thanks for the photograph but I think I should have been more specific. What I really wanted was a photograph of the old Windsor from the 70s. I had some good times there during those days. I've been trying to hunt down a photograph...

Old Contemptibles pub Albion Hotel Livery Street

I visited The Old Contemptibles last night, purely in the interests of research. The pub is fantastic! It has really been refurbished well, not like the pale plastic efforts that have sprung up everywhere. Well done M & B!

Old Contemptibles pub Albion Hotel Livery Street

The Old Contemptibles Please forgive the spelling mistake in my original post, I think I was overcome with excitement! I just hope the refurbishment retains some of the original atmosphere and not replace it with a 'modern' refurbishment.

    The Paddock, Newtown

The Griffin!!! I read that story about Ozzy and wondered if it was The Paddock that I remember. There was also a Davenport's pub nearby, anyone remember the name of that?

    The Paddock, Newtown

There was an article in The Mail recently about a pub called The Paddock in Newtown Row. There were two pubs in the Newtown shopping centre quite close to Newtown swimming baths. Am I correct in thinking that one of these was the Paddock? Also, what was the name of the other pub? I remember...

    The Anatomical Boot Shop

Oisin, you haven't aged a day, but then you do live in 'in the land of the young'!

    The Anatomical Boot Shop

Still like the old shop Oisin! I have to admit I liked the riding boots though, very Steed out of The Avengers!

    The Anatomical Boot Shop

Thanks Oisin I think the shop stood out because of its sign. It was unique when compared to all the uniform neon signs in the city now. The builders who were refitting the shop say the sign wasn't destroyed but is located in the basement sales area. I can't verify this but maybe someone has...

    The Anatomical Boot Shop

Last year 'The Anatomical Boot' shop on Colmore Row closed down. I must have passed it on countless occasions. I've tried to find photographs of it on the net but the ones I've seen are not the best. has anyone got any photographs, as I miss that familiar green sign on my travels!

Old Contemptibles pub Albion Hotel Livery Street

I regret to say the brewery ( M & B, or whoever they purport to be ) seem to be letting the Old Contemptibles crumble away. I visited recently and the only part of the pub open is a small neglected bar on Edmund Street. The large vibrant main bar that could be entered from the Livery Street...

    The pub under the ramp

I'm feeling nostalgic reading this. I've never recovered from going to The Windsor, turning around the corner only to find they had demolished it! (sometime in the 80's) Has an anyone got a photograph of it?

    Bomb Pecks

I've never seen that photograph before Pomgolian, brilliant! I lived in Stratford Place near a shop run by Mrs Crowe, half way down Allesley Street. Just down the road from the shop on the corner was a courtyard. I remember as a child going down the entry that led to it and all the sheets on...

    Bomb Pecks

Allesley Street Hi Astonian I tried to post these pictures earlier but for some reason I couldn't. I've sorted out the problem now (too many pixies or pixals!). The first picture shows the junction of Allesley Street & Aston Road North. The newsagents can be clearly seen on the left. Over the...

    Bomb Pecks

I grew up in the sixties and lived in Allesley Street. When they demolished the houses I used to play on the Bomb Pecks. Anyone got any photographs of Allesley Street?
