The Sacks Of Potatoes, Gosta Green

Astoness, did a bit of investigating and found this. https://www.brumpic.com/new-blog/ It was once the old Delicia cinema. Later it later became a venue for wrestling, and then became home to the BBC Midlands TV studios where the BBC broadcast plays before it relocated to BBC Pebble Mill...

The Stag's Head, Summer Lane. Sorry, can't provide a date (late 1800s / early 1900s?) I wonder where they were going?

The Sacks Of Potatoes, Gosta Green

Thanks for that Astoness! Am I right in thinking that building to the left of the pub was the old BBC studios in Birmingham at some point in it's history before Pebble Mill was built?

    The Bricklayers Arms_potters Hill_aston

Looking at the registration of the mini on the left with the 'D' reg dates the photograph around 1966.

The Victoria, Inkerman St, Duddeston Mill

The orientation from the map is looking west up Duddeston Mill Road towards Duddeston Train Station, at a guess I would date it from the 1960s because of the tower block in the background.

The Crown Hotel The General Elliott "Cutlers" Station Street.

The photograph shows the pub was call The Crown Hotel then. I've no idea when the photograph was taken but I'd hazard a guess at Victorian or early 20th Century. I've seen a lot of photographs of The Crown but none with the bar staff / waiters standing outside.

    The Longboat, Cambrian Wharf

I read with sadness that planning permission is being sought to demolish The Longboat and replace it with more than 60 apartments. https://www.birminghampost.co.uk/business/commercial-property/new-flats-replace-birmingham-music-13992736 I know people will correct me and tell me that the pub is...

    Pubs Of The Past

Thanks so much for that Phil. In the photograph I found of The Hideout, the observer is looking 'up hill' where as the view of The Emily Arms is looking 'down hill'. The photograph explains this much better...

    Pubs Of The Past

The Emily Arms was situated on Emily Street (corner of Emily St and Dymoke St). The original Victorian pub was demolished and replaced with a new pub of the same name. Later known as The Hideout, it is now in use as an Islamic centre.

    US Base Pheasey Estate

I saw this photograph years ago and it has been mentioned here. Took me a while to track it down but I have. It shows a US military policeman standing guard outside what is now Pheasey Library / community centre. If anyone has more information about it, I'd love to know.
