Hi Brummie-lad, I just noticed that the 'Richards Lewis Spokes' shown, later owned the building we knew as the House that Jack Built. The frontage sign on that building shows Lewis S Richards Ltd.

Thank you to the members for giving so much more info than I had from my online search. Because this thread was moved from the Six Ways thread, I am re-posting the images I made of Bromford (Bromfield) House. The first shows the comparison if the bank hadn't been built.

That's a great piece of information Vivienne. It goes somewhat to explaining the demise of the house. Perhaps the reason why they built the bank on their drive was because the house was by then derelict.

There are many photos of Six Ways and many of them show the Midland Bank on the corner of Lozells Rd & Birchfield Rd. Some of those photos show the large house to the rear of this Bank. Combining two photos rather than comparing two photos, I made this "then & now" image of Bath St. The building shown, which was opposite St Chads on the corner of Bath St & Shadwell St was where in 1960, I started my part time job in the gun trade before I left school.

Just a final observation (from me). The lampost on the corner is shown "edge on" so, does that suggest it is lighting a road that is running behind the house? That would make it a T junction or a fork.

Only saw this thread today. If I may, here is my opinion on it. I can only see a factory building rather than a bridge. You can see faint images of a drainpipe and a window on that building as well as the large opening. I've enhanced what I can see in this attachment. Sorry, just another opinion...
