    Yardley Wood

Hi IvorP .... my mother-in-law (nee Shufflebottom) lived at 36 Pendeen, but moved out in 1949 to Prince of Wales Lane. She remembers your mother Hilda, brother Ronnie and sister Rita. She remembers your dad at the VE (or VJ) Day celebrations dressed as an Arab!

    726 Stratford Road Photos?

Here's an old photo showing that row of shops, but only a distant view of the shop you're interested in .... which is just before the first junction on the right (Formans Road). 724-726 was a branch of Woolworth's in my 1960's childhood days, and I went in there regularly.

    W.A.Perry & Co, jewellers 4 Snow Hill

I think that 4 Snow Hill is the shop with the clock on the right of this photo tagged as c1912.

    W.A.Perry & Co, jewellers 4 Snow Hill

I don't have any information on Perry .... but, in case you haven't seen it, here's a Snow Hill photo from 1953 which I assume shows the shop you mention.

    Greet Primary School

It's interesting that the 1915 class photo shows about 50 girls, and no boys. I wonder if children were divided into single-sex classes then ?

    Church Of Christ Sparkhill

.... and here's a photo of a Sunday School group on an outing to Wicksteed Park in May 1960.

    Church Of Christ Sparkhill

Hi Sparky Jen .... we must have seen each other at the church. I do recall Geoff Herickx. I wasn't a big churchgoer, but I did receive about 6 book rewards for regular attendance at the Sunday School, and I regularly attended the monthly Family Service for a few years. Great link to Richard...

    OLD BIRMINGHAM PHOTOS FROM STEVEBHx

Thanks for the Formans Road photo. It shows our local chip shop when I was a lad in the 1960s .... just a short walk through the "gulley" from my home in Thornhill Road.

    Stratford Road

A belated reply to #314 which showed a 1987 view of shops on the Stratford Road near the Showell Green Lane junction : The above post is taken from the "Sparkhill" thread, and probably explains the wrecked state of the rightmost buildings. Here's an old view of the same row of shops.

Grove Farm Fulford Hall Stratford Road Springfield

Here's another photo of Grove Farm, dated as 1896 .... with people who are presumably occupants or farm workers.

    Camp Hill

I think the building shown in #39 is Grove Farm .... located in Sparkhill, where Grove Road is now. Here's another photo, tagged with a date of 1895.

I believe the RAC sign shows an accreditation for the Woolpack Hotel.

    OLD BIRMINGHAM PHOTOS FROM STEVEBHx

Great photos .... I believe #633 shows Lower Temple Street (not Newhall Street).

    Bull Street

Louharbs .... 98 Bull Street is shown as Bensons Restaurant in the Goad 1889 fire insurance map attached.
