Interesting to see on the attached c1887 map that an area adjacent to Formans Road is annotated "Magazines". I assume this means storage for explosives/ammunition .... maybe used in extracting materials for the nearby Burbury Brickworks ?

Karen I assume 104 Dale End is the shop on the left next to No 105 which I believe was the old Scout Shop. This photo is tagged with a date of 1961.

The attached photos (from the excellent Historic England site) are captioned as being from the Music Hall at 8 Temple Street .... so I assume they show the interior of the Temperance Hall. Clearly one is a duplicate of the left-hand photo in Post 26.

Another newspaper article relating to the Graf Zeppelin flight over Birmingham in July 1932 .... and the passenger who claims to have requested the flight path over Birmingham.

Here's another great picture of Grove Farm that I've never seen before.

The attached 1887 map shows a pub on the corner of Steelhouse Lane and Lancaster Street .... the site of the Castle PH in the previous map. However, I initially thought that the lamp attached to the building in the foreground of the Steelhouse Lane photo was the type often seen on pubs of that...

I think the Steelhouse Lane photo shows a pub in the foreground .... on the corner of Lancaster Street. Does anyone know the name of that pub ?

As MWS suggests, the building was probably demolished as part of the Corporation Street development .... I believe the photo I posted was taken by James Burgoyne as part of a series to record views that would be lost when Corporation Street was cut through town.

The attached photo containing the same building is tagged as Steelhouse Lane .... supporting the location as being the pink dot on the above map.

Dennis : I think the "hotel" building you're referring to is in fact the New Street branch of the Joint Stock Bank .... picture attached.

Viv .... love the photo. I believe that building is Brook Farm (on the old Brook Lane before it was re-directed), and not Sarehole Mill that was further downstream.
