    When Everyone Wore A Hat...

Gee you would have to be pretty fit to get there without a ladder! Love the horses feet under the wagon, they must be used to waiting while all this went on.

    Hall of Memory

How did the bloke get up there? Did he climb up from where that ladder is as he seems to be wearing mountaineering gear and there is a lot of rope up there!

    Map Of W W2 Bombing

Looks like I have a problem. Thinking that the map was showing our house was hit by an incendiary, as it was, I was ok. Seems that it should have been a red spot because no HE landed on our house or anywhere that I consider "near". Our house was badly damaged, causing us to be evacuated in...

Thanks for the map Phil, sure looks like our house location. That box room was my bedroom as a teenager when we had a couple of "Paying Guests"!

    Map Of W W2 Bombing

There is one shown for Tillingham St Sparkbrook. Recon that's the one that came into box room at #7 and was thrown out the window before it became active. Was dealt with by the ARP warden and the streets stirrup pump. Cheers Tim

    Conway Road School

My sister Jeannette Ann Eborn went there from about 1944-1948. It seemed to be more concerned in the domestic side of life as I re member her making an apron and head band which was then used in the cooking class. Mind Jean was never scholastic according to our later life conversations and was...

    Advertising in the past

We once had a Super Snipe, bought it third hand through a local mechanic here in Oz. Don't know how many miles we put on the clock and never missed a beat. Only had one fault, occasionally the bonnet would pop up, just that inch, this however was very rare, a lovely two tone paint job, BRG over...

I thought Jane Mansfield was the outstanding star in that film or maybe Little Richard!

They Were Caught In Our Old Street Pics...

Maybe quite a few men were still waiting for Demob. On the other hand maybe they were a bit shy. Most of the men in the picture seem to be the kind who were more outgoing and are competent dancers. Maybe they were up the Pub getting a bit of Dutch Courage!

    Coventry Street Digbeth

Thanks for the picture. I always feel a bit sad about the working conditions endured by the people shown. Any knowledge of my forebears remind me of my very humble beginnings, and in all honesty I can't claim to have climbed much higher. Both my parents told me of their childhoods which were...
