I remember that the park had a once famous Tulip Festival, I'm sure Mom has some photos somewhere. It closed later than 1930's since it was about 1965...

Re Birmingham Workhouse I received this copy of the death certificate for my ggg grandmother Louisa (Priestland) widow of my ggg grandfather William Underhill. It comes at such a surprise though I guessed she may have fallen on bad times, since she and John were living seperately in 1891 she...

    Just Wondering

Harborne that was lovely, and yes you summed it all up for me. Its funny when you ask relatives about past family I'm usually met with the response of "Lets not talk about those who have past I am more interested in the living", but then there those who want to tell you as much as they can...

    Lewis's Department Store

This photo of me with my friend was taken in Lewis's about 1965. I remember wanting to take the chimp home with me he was just adorable. I realise the it isn't pc now to use animals in this way, though at the time I was pretty chuffed to have had the opportunity to hold him/her.

Birmingham Childrens' Homes in the 1950s

I believe my nan (gran) may have spent some time in or at Erdington Cottage homes, though it would have been very early on, since she married my grandfather in 1918. I remember her telling stories about making dolls out of pegs to give as Christmas presents and looking after her younger sisters...
