    Hiya Celia ..a few years ago Gary was on the radio W.M ..i got in touch with them and asked if they would give him my phone number ..they did and Gary invited me and Tom over ..he is a lovely man and we bought the books at his home ..he signed them over a cuppa and made us really welcome...

    Hiya Topsy ..I went to Lozells as well ..hated Miss Cage(maths) and Miss Gumbley (sewing).. ..i well remember going to cookery at Warren Farm and the annexe down the road ....many years later i had to go to my son's schooll in Weoley Castle .couldn't believe it when the headmistress came out it...

    Yep your right Dek according to the book they had to try 3 times ..finding out a lot that i didn't know:)makes me take of me rose tinted specs:) i wouldn't have liked to have been around then

    Had the book from Heather as a birthday pressie :):),,it's brilliant:) found out a lot i didn't know about Birmingham :shocked:e-g Booth Street Handsworth was not named after William Booth as i thought ,but after a great Birmingham forger ..I grew up in Brookfields and didn't know that it was...

    Hiya Mike yes it was just in Heath Street in the 50s ..then in the 60s it moved to the corner of Heath St /Dudley Road .

    Yep Col you are right it was on the right hand side of Heath Street and Dudley Road ..(as you looked down from Dudley Road)..on the left was the pub that was a bit of a walk in the snow ..lol

    I remember in the 60s .Climax Radio moved over the road from the Leabridge .(.still on the corner of Heath Street )..everyone in our road rented a tele of them..also down the bottom of Heath Street was the baths ..we used to go down there every Friday after work..i remember the back houses...

    Hiya Heath Street The pub on the corner was the Leabridge Tavern ..they had a door on the street that led down to a cellar ..this was called the Tagus Bar and on Saturday evening was full of us kids ..i am sure Astonian will be along to tell you more quote I suppose the good thing is that...
