Rivers : Forgotten Streams or Brooks of Birmingham

There is a video on Youtube of a gentleman who walked the Plantsbrook/Ebrook from Sutton park - Penns hall- Pype Hayes park- Plantsbrrok lakes - Chester road - Castle Vale, here it joins the river Tame and its journey north. I wander if the Tame will be culverted when Hs2 goes through this area...

Who Do You Think You Are

Totally agree. Probably more interesting articles in many 'unknown family' trees. T.V companies drag the same old faces from programme to programme ...........boring.

    THE COST OF PROGRESS

Similar story all over I'm afraid. My sister-in-law lived in a village in Kent. When I first started going down there in the 70's there were two garages and a petrol station, a dozen pubs or more, several butchers, greengrocers, post office, newsagent etc I think the first and the biggest blow...

    Elmdon Airport Birmingham International Airport

The weather at Heathrow this morning was awful. It was never intended for them to take off side by side, but in opposite directions from the same runway was suggested at one point. There is a video on Youtube of the last one taking off but the weather prevented a clear picture. The last one is...

The nearest train station to New Spring St would have been Hockley, a ten/fifteen minute walk. What number New Spring St did your parents live at?

    Bow Street, Horsefair

Car transport is frowned upon in Birmingham. We have too many cars in the city and Birmingham planners take a positive view towards developers who build houses without any provision for car parking. If a new development is within easy walking distance of public transport, shops and other...

I worked around the corner at A T Gittins in Irving st, later demolished to build the 'Night Out'. I remember the the 'new' catholic church being built in 1963/4 Great pictures by the way.

Big mistake on my part. The ring road number is A4540 not 4040.

    Commonwealth Games, Birmingham 2022

The A4040 is the inner ring road. New John st, Icknield st, Ladywood middleway, Five Ways island to Bristol St, up Belgrave middleway, left to Camp hill island, Watery Lane, Lawley st to the end of Dartmouth st and the island where TK MAX is at New John st. There is a detailed map on the...
