    Dirtey Street

Sorry Dek but I can't remember! Only joking!! I guess that it would have been by reading between the lines of Lelands writings. It was the main metal working area of Brum at the time.

    High Street Erdington

The picture may have been taken about 1967 cos I'm in it and I moved to a different troop in Jan 1968. Froth, the old acorn was still open in 1975 because my parents ran a country club in there on a Friday night and I used to go in there when I came home on week-end leave.

    Old aeroplane photo's.

Just been reading back through the posts in this thread and realised that I missed the question regarding which carrier the Gannet was on. Now, Darby, far be it from me to try to correct an ex-bootneck but the carrier wasn't the Bulwark. Tail letter "J" was for the Eagle during the period...

    Buttons Ltd Aston Birmingham

My mom worked at Buttons, Portland St, 1951 to 1953. She worked in the Spray Shop Outwork Dept. She tells me that when the buttons were finished they used to send them out to people who would sew them onto card before shipping them to the various shops

Today I was able to have a good look at the old bridge over the Tame on the Aldridge Rd but I have been unable to find any info about it other than there is a preservation order on both the bridge and the wall leading up to it. Can any of you give me any information about it. I was able to have...

Scouts Cubs Boys Brigade Girl Guides Brownies

I stand corrected. For Accident Hospital, read "General Hospital". My Memory Fades with old age. If it helps, when you looked out of the window of the scout shop you could see the central Fire Stn in Lancaster Square. Sorry to confuse anyone.

Scouts Cubs Boys Brigade Girl Guides Brownies

No Jean you are right it was opposite the entrance to the accident hospital but as previously stated at the junction of Corporation St and Steelhouse lane. The main entrance was in Steelhouse lane but the shop stretched round the corner into Corporation Street. I was in there nearly every...

Scouts Cubs Boys Brigade Girl Guides Brownies

Kevkonk. As Maggieuk said, the "Scout & Guide" shop was at the junction of Corporation St and Steelhouse Lane until 1967. It then moved to Hill Street. Lord alone knows where the shop is now but due to the fact that I no longer look good in shorts and a cap frankly I'm not to bothered.
