    Hello, My guess the picture is the Waverely Road / Tennyson Road junction adjacent Small Heath Park. I have several books on the Small Heath area and the reference the park having “high picket fencing” The attached google earth gives an up to date location of your original picture location.

    I remember the Minerva cafe in Digbeth, the staff would slice the bread with a long bread knife, you could see the slicer in the bay window of the cafe, very very good bacon and tomatoes sandwich

    What I have got somewhere is some black and white pictures of me and some mates sitting on the railings and steps of the shop. We use to play football in Digby Park at the back of the shop. If , I can find them I will scan and upload.

    I remember that shop, it was on an elevated corner position with steps to it and black iron rail around the blue brick paviours laid around the shop; and the windows were halted with advertisements. Is that the shop you are enquiring about?
