    As kids we would use to walk the Grand Union Canal from the BSA (Golden Hillock Rd) to Tyseley , that was in the 60’s. Sadly now the towpaths in that area have become no go areas.

    I remember the wrestling and boxing events being held there it was a walk up Oldknow Road cut through to the canal to the BSA , down the hill (Golden Hillock Rd) and left on to Waldorf Rd , I am sure it was used for roller skating ?? Or is my memory !!.

    I remember the cottages , the access was down the jitty by the Italian Barbers (Tonio’s) and Harris Dry Cleaners the cottages had the original blue brick paved footpath.

    In 2014, worked on a project on a HV sub station in the Kensington area of London, the sub was adjacent the canal , and the Principal Contractor used working boats to deliver the materials to site, and a couple of the broader width boats with a mini grab bucket to remove the surplus from site...

    We use to have the Tallyman, but we called him the clubman I think he worked for Provident?? they had an office by the Custard House in Bordesley Green.
