Location wanted for this bus if possible

In regards to the road layout of this photo, the positioning of the bollards shows that looking from St Lukes Rd, Sun St would indeed curve to the left. If it were a right angled cross roads the bollards would appear almost as one. I would also suggest that this photo is much earlier than the...

Location wanted for this bus if possible

Spot on oldMohawk (post #196). I too saw the similarities you pointed out. In my opinion the problem has been solved. P.S. I enjoyed that saga and all the input, any more photos to investigate?

    Steelhouse lane

In 1960, I worked part time from school at Lincoln Jeffries gun shop which had the zebra crossing right outside the door. There were a couple of gun shops further up and I remember W. Pond hardware shop. I seem to remember an Indian restaurant which had a smell we were not accustomed to in those...

Location wanted for this bus if possible

I also remember the buses stopping here in Icknield St for tea from the café but the clock is missing on this photo. Don't know why two photos have come up. I can't delete one?

Just a thought, could the architecture in front of the bus be a separate building to the tower?

    Cowper Street

Gordon Rogers mentioned could have been my wife's uncle who lived with his Mother and siblings in Andover Place, Cowper St. At that time my wife lived with her parents Albert & Elsie Rogers at 13/66 Andover Place, Cowper St until they moved to Whitehead St in1952.

    Old street pics..

Would it have been Barton's Bank into Whitehead Rd, across High St into Whitehead St? I've not seen the map but, hope Whitehead STREET isn't forgotten.

    Old street pics..

Thanks Phil, can actually see the "welcome" sign over the door now. Don't ever remember that though, we just called it the "crinklies". P.S had to smile about that snow on my head. Reminds me of the time when one had to be wary of the snow sliding off those steep inclined...

    Old street pics..

oldMohawks Lennox St photo #5,267 from yesterday. The shop on the left looks like the fish and chip shop I knew in early 1960s on the corner of Clifford St. Always called it "the crinklies" because their chips were crinkled. Wonder if anyone can verify that I'm not losing my memory.

Astonian's post #3. I've only just seen this post (11 years later) and seeing the name Garretts reminded me that in 1962 I wanted to sell my bicycle to fund a deposit on a motorbike. This bicycle was built up from scratch, frame sprayed, quick release wheels & tubeless tyres, adjustable...

    Windows 10

I've searched for a "ask the Moderators" or "General Enquires" type of thread to no avail so, in light of that I've used this one. As my query is about e-mails and not Windows 10, I would like to ask what thread would be best?

    Chelmsley Wood.

Just realised that my wife and me have lived on Chelmsley Wood ( two different addresses ) for 50 years this month. I remember when we came, all the roads were muddy from building lorries. No shopping centre, only the corner shop. We went to the Poolway for our main shopping. Also, no Facilities...

    New forum version

Like the new version of our website. When I first logged in today it came up with my old fsnet.co.uk e-mail address but, when I used my password instead it logged me on without any problem. I've checked my account and my new e-mail address is in there. The website used to log me off...

Big Gee, I lived in Victoria Road, Aston around that time.

    Yew Tree pub sign Witton

Thank you for all your comments. In conclusion, it was next to the Yew Tree pub. Zooming in on Phil's photo (#26 ) I believe this is the painting (arrowed). Maybe one day we will get a clearer photo.

    Yew Tree pub sign Witton

1960-1965 is around the time I remember it. Definitely between Deykin Ave and Wyrley Road. I know it's not the Erdington one because as you approached the spot you saw it on the right hand side of the road. You would only notice the Erdington one on the left.

    Yew Tree pub sign Witton

Hi Lyn, this is exactly the "debate" I'm having. My friends are telling me I'm getting old (which I am) and confused with the Erdington painting. But I'm convinced the one I remember was on Witton Road opposite the river.
