Hi, You may find the attached of interest, I worked in the motor cycle finish which was nexst door to the plating / polishing shop c1950.

Some bikes for export where put into ferry wagons in Small heath yard, I worked in the packing dept at the time ( 1955 ) and my foreman had to supervise the loading etc. Bikes for the home market went by road useing transport by Linney's of Bakers...

I think he was Bill Nicholson also a picture of BSA testers L to Right George Brown, Ray Armstrong, George Pickering and Jack Clucas. The lad on the right is the pump boy who filled the bikes with petrol and oil ready for test.

See you do or did live in Bakers street have a look at my pictures and you will see one of my Grandfathers garage opposite Blackford Road. He converted Triumph's to all chain drive in the 1920's. Lou Dalby.

I think the bike ( RW Coventry) is a AJS, It has a " Stirrup " type front brake which went out by 1923.
