I think you are correct about the china shop, probably Crystal Palace No. 76 Smallbrook Street. The sign for J. Child appears to say 8 doors above which would put it on Hill Street perhaps.

I think this could be 112 Phillips Street, the bay window and entry can be seen on the map.

I really enjoyed creating that website but my programming skills (virtually none) let me down. I would love to add more streets but it needs to be simplified somehow. I wish I had had access to a decent camera when I lived in Aston, then perhaps I would have pictures of 7 Parliament Street and...

Unfortunately The Barton Arms and the annex to Burlington Street School seem to be the only survivors in that area. Have you seen the images here: www.leroux.co.uk/aston (takes a while to load the 400 images).

I was just reading Lyn's post on the Park Road thread https://birminghamhistory.co.uk/forum/threads/park-road-hockley.19780/post-850289 Thought it was a useful tool for finding buildings that are still standing (well it was in 2024). A lot of character in this building.

It doesn't really make sense that on the 1901 census there are numerous properties listed and yet only showing on Kelly's for 1908, having said that if there were no trades in Lime Street I suppose it wouldn't be listed. Apparently King Street was partially built in 1904.

No mention of King Street until Kelly's of 1915.

Checking Kelly's the only time Lime Street is Mentioned is in 1908. The entry for Downing Street shows Lime Street is close to Lewisham Road in fact within 7 properties and so I think Lime Street was flattened and replaced by King Street. Still trying to prove that though.
