Thanks Pedro but do you know if it is the same Holy Trinity located at Camp Hill?

    The Green Lanes, Aston

Brummy Lad Thanks for that. The census entry that you show is for his son and family. I tend to agree with you and Lady P and favour the Small Heath Green Lane

    The Green Lanes, Aston

I think you're right Lady P. I've a feeling The Green Lanes is/are nearer to Bordesley as in Green Lane, Small Heath.

    The Green Lanes, Aston

Thank you to everyone who answered my query. I didn't know that the Green Lanes was an area of Wylde Green. But this then throws up another question. Where was he buried? Was it Holy Trinity in Aston or, as it says on ancestry, Holy Trinity Bordesley? (I presume the latter is the one at Camp...

    The Green Lanes, Aston

I am looking for a map showing the location of The Green Lanes which is shown on my G-G-Grandfathers burial entry. Is it in Aston or is it what is now Green Lane Small Heath? I have done a forum search but to no avail. If someone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jim

    Your Claim To Fame

I have appeared on television in the quiz show Fifteen to one twice. The first time was when it was presented by William G. Stewart who was a charming man who complimented me on my choice of tie! I came fourth just missing out on the final. The second time was about 12 or so years later on the...

    Bull Ring Old Cock Pump

Great poem. Surprised to see the word 'caput' in there. I presume it means broken as it does now, but I thought it was a word brought back from the trenches in WW1 (German Kaput) and not in common use in 1843.

Vickers Valetta VW197 (not Viking as thought), Elmdon airport 12th August 1970

I have just read on an aircraft history site that Don Everall (Aviation) was flying out of Birmingham airport using a Vickers Viking which was based there. They were also operating a De Havilland Dragon Rapide from there as well. This was from about 1951 up until 1960/61 when operations ceased...

Having looked at it again I tend to agree. The "b" is written the same in bench and brewhouse as is the letter "e"
