    aston sheds

I've been left Brum 60 years, I don't even recall 2 levels. I do remember the diversions, sitting on grassy banks overlooking the line, there were grassy banks on both sides something like a "cutting"or culvert, maybe this is what is being referred to. I do remember bunking in to Aston sheds and...

    aston sheds

I used to go to New St Station every evening on my way home from school to see what was pulling the 5.00 Glasgow train. Lots of "crates" but sometimes a "cop". Even saw a blackie pull it from time to time. Dave A

    Moseley Road Baths

Going to MSA across the road, the baths were the place we spent most of our lunches swimming instead. Never took much notice of the building at the time. I do remember the mens side and ladies side.. Dave A

    Pre-decimalisation money

I remember when my son was born in 1968, we bought him over to the UK (from Canada) to meet the grand folks. The shilling piece was being introduced as 5p, as a way of easing into the upcoming decimalization of currency, anyone remember that? Later in 1971, I was back visiting and the new...

    Perry Barr canal tip

We used to swim in that canal...not very healthy I suppose but in those days it didn't seem to matter. It was quite common to see a dead dog floating in there from time to time. Dave A

    Porchester Street

On an other note...this map must be post WW2 as you can see the bomb peck on Paddington St, with lavs in the middle of the yard and the brewhouses to the left. I lived just below them in the lower SW corner 4/52. The map brings back many memories to me...The button factory at the bottom of...

    Childhood Memories

We would jump on the platform if the conductor was doing the tickets and jump off when he came back. We would do this on several buses until we got where we were going. When you've got NO MONEY, you had to improvise.... Dave A
