    I raced on a track in that area...you could see Hamstead Colliery from there. Incidentally, at a school reunion back in 2003, one of my classmates showed me a scorecard from one of the meetings at that track, I didn't do very well on that day.. Dave A

    As someone that lived on the same street as you Lyn, I take great offence at Thomas's response. To even suggest that it may have been the people and not the houses, is ignorant, insulting & condescending. The term slum, is derogatory and very misapplied in the case of the back to back housing...
