Many thanks Mark & Lyn
What's infuriating is I'm searching the census records for Daniel Hawkes in Birmingham which comes up with nothing. Then prompted by Marks
'address' census search for 1861/1871 there he is.
A brickwaller for the experts.
I'm following back the Hawkes male line using FMP. I was hoping with the purchase of William James Hawkes birth cert PDF that I could get back another generation. Not only can I not find a Hawkes/Bartlett marriage record but also no census records for his father...
I managed to get in via a google search, it's very slow to load mind.
As you say Mark, a little goldmine! mainly transport but a lot of pubs businesses, buildings, places etc in the background of the images to identify.
I had this conundrum a couple of years ago. I went with Excel in the end as it was something I was familiar with at work before retirement. Plus it's easy to email to family members who may be interested or add to it.
My created template:
A rather grubby photo booth snap of mom and me probably taken in town as we lived in Garrison Lane at the time. Unfortunately I don't have a date but I was born in the summer of 1956 if you can guess my age. You don't see many of those knitted balaclava with shoulders any more.
Unfortunately some people have become more precious and easily offended. These changes to the English spoken/written word are being changed to reflect that.
A 1960 photo of me and my sister on a window sill in Garrison Lane. I've had several goes at it myself but failed miserably, especially the stitching together the break across my check shirt. Time to hand it over to the experts! All attempts greatly appreciated.
