Haven't found Alice's birth certificate but on her marriage in 1933 her father is listed as 'Hall Attendant' and her address given as 'South Lodge'. Incidentally my mother was a bridesmaid and it was nice to see her signature again as a witness.

Lyn, I'm pretty sure that as you say the shops at 341 have been demolished and a whole new row built. They were a long time in the building but when we went past some time ago several of them were occupied. At first I thought they were going to be residential but they are separate shop units.

Thank you both. Mike that's a really good cutting as it ties the date of the bridge to between April and August so not many issues of the Mail to go through as I first thought. Unfortunately it was a daily paper but I could do it a bit at a time.
