    Burial without a headstone/ Wesleyan?

Could it be that the relatives of George Hancock could not afford a headstone [or too mean to buy one], and by the time they received money from his estate the memory of him had passed

    IN OUR GARDEN 2023

Saw the heron come down into the garden for the first time this year. Chased off, as after my fish again. Will have to reset the heron scarer again, a water jet shoots out at him when he lands on the pool. The only problem is, if we forget to turn the water off as we go out of the conservatory...

    Remember Lozell's Street in 1930's

Only just come across this thread. My Auntie Ollie [Olivier Wiggins] lived in Lozells Street. Not sure if it was 92/96. I was only little when we used to visit her regularly during the 1930s and onwards. My eldest cousin Marjorie got married during the early years of the war. She had her wedding...

    IN OUR GARDEN 2023

Richards remark about cheap plants from supermarkets reminds me of three strawberry plants we bought from a DIY store closing down, about 20 years ago. 50p each. We have taken the runners off each year and replanted, and now getting pounds off every year. Watching a pair of Blackbirds this...

    Icknield port road

Yet another interesting thread. I do however need help. When I left school in 1946 I worked in the Lab. at McKecknie brothers, Brass Founders, which I'm sure was in Icknield Port Road. Is this correct? I'm afraid the mind is not as good as it was

    Sewage farms

Not sure if they still do it, but my wife and I went on a tour of Minworth some years ago. Was indeed fascinating and educational. Well worth a visit if you can. Just an aside for your amusement. I had some friends who lived in a little village called Ulleskelf, just outside Tadcaster. Before...

    IN OUR GARDEN 2023

Certainly more bird activity over the last few days. Always had the pigeons and magpies come down for a feast along with two squirrels. Also many plants showing first signs of growth. Makes us feel so much better

    Hot drinks

It's amazing the memories these things have brought back. The Horlicks mixer was Mom's pride and joy mixing the Horlicks so easily without lumps. Then the Bournvita which I loved. I wonder if anyone has a photo of the old Ovaltine tins with two girls on the front. They were my cousins. My uncle...

We have a birdfeeder box suckered to the window and put seed and fat block in. Put it out about September but not been used yet. Perhaps it would be better as a tray

    MY FIRST/SECOND GRANDCHILD

We saw our eldest grandson and wife and four children last week. We don't see them very often because they live a distance away and both work, but what a delight. The two youngest great grandchildren are 20 months old but when arriving and going they were helping each other off and on with coats...

I love to hear running water BUT I think I would get very disheartened if my garden got flooded like that, unless I had several acres
