    Snow Hill Station

Station was busy - and views from it are still excellent:- However - Mr Percy Pigeon, esq. has found a nice quiet bit to chill out:-

    Snow Hill Station

A part of the "new" Snow Hill Station is already redundant of course - the original Midland Metro stop on what was originally platform 4. This has been left to be reclaimed by nature........ The new stop is on the left - tracks to the old one on the right:- Track is now cutoff and some...

    Snow Hill Station

Next - may be a bit of old platform (not 100% sure on this as brickwork looks too new - I need to do a bit of research...) Bridge number peeking through the undergrowth:- Point reference number (I think) on old wooden sleeper - there are lots of wooden sleepers particularly on the top of...

    Snow Hill Station

Finally got back to Snow Hill Station a week ago - parked up in the Jewelry Quarter and took the train in (what a novel idea!!!). Again the weather was not good, but I went in search of what still remained from the original station - there is quite a bit actually. The best surviving elements are...

    Hamstead Road Handsworth

We used to run Cubs and Scouts in Hamstead Rd Baptist Church next door (to the right). More than once we had cubs come in in tears as animals were being slaughtered in the back yard of Taj & Co and the gates were not closed properly so they could see what was going on. There was also a pub on...

    Potter Street, Aston, C1900

Another photo to take your breath away - superb detail on zoom in:-

    Potter Street, Aston, C1900

Each of these 3 people would have their own very different tales to tell about life in 1905 - it would have been great to hear them.........

    Potter Street, Aston, C1900

What a WONDERFUL photograph this is - there is so much going on in it, and the fact it probably sourced from a glass plate negative means you can zoom in to really examine the detail

    Birmingham Co-op Belmont Row

Parked in Belmont Row (or whats left of it) late last night waiting to pick my daughter up from late shift in the Bull Ring. Took a few photos with my mobile - the front of this building is BEAUTIFULLY restored:- Note the intact fire bell on the wall, and the classless sign above the door:-

But - if you get a clear night (like last night) you can see the difference in sharpness:-

    From Our Gardens 2025

Nice moon last night too - low in a hazy sky so not as sharp detail as usual:-

    From Our Gardens 2025

We had a couple of (I think?) buzzards flying over the house yesterday - sounded like they were having a bit of a barney......

    Donations

On most sites (ie: 28dayslater) you have to become a member to see the vast majority of content. I think that is fair enough. Its not like we are asking for the earth. If all 409 guests joined and donated a pound a month that's nearly £5K extra per year coming in.

    Donations

Agreed - I also signed up. Just looking at the home page we seem to have lots of guests and very few members on line at present:- Is there anything we can do to encourage the 409 guests to become members I wonder - assuming they are not all bots of course!

    Dunlop Building

Yes they were - forgot about them! We also used to have inter-factory accounting dept at the very end of the top floor but they had moved down to the main accounting offices years earlier. This was their office on the day we left the building:-

The changing face of Birmingham Railways

Pity only around a quarter of the route will have anything worth looking at through the windows. The rest will be in cuttings or tunnels apparently....... Hope they will have a good in-flight video to watch........ Having used trains in France, Germany and the rest of Britain more times than I...
