    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

And in case you are wondering what was inside this mini-tunnel:- The tunnel seems to have a bend in it and comes out in the photo on post #1189:- This is looking out of the tunnel looking towards the old Hockley station site just as building work was getting underway - note building on...

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

You can just see this structure on these photos taken late 70's / early 80's - I'm standing right where Jewellery Quarter station is now:- Here are some "full frontal" views - note the huge crack above the tunnel that has been repaired in the colour photo posted above in #1191:- There is a...

    IN OUR GARDEN 2024

Lovely crescent moon in the evening sky a few nights ago:- This was about 2 days after new moon, quite low in the sky so difficult to photograph. Move on to last night and things get a bit easier:-

    Earliest sound recording

The Museums Collections Centre in Dollman St have some very early recording machines and discs/drums etc - no idea if they work or what is on them but may be worth a try as a "starter for 10"?

If it helps - I think the Dunlop photo archive went to the Gaydon Museum - it contained around 100000 negatives, photos etc so it may have what you want

    IN OUR GARDEN 2024

How about this - the International Space Station from our patio a few nights ago:- This is probably the best one - you can quite clearly see the solar panel structure:- Taken handheld on a 150-600mm Tamron zoom lens at 100ASA for anyone interested!

    The Railways

I think it was the signal box that controlled the (then extensive) carriage sidings in and around Vauxhall and Duddeston Station - but not 100% sure! Use for shunting purposes only - not for actual trains. Note - most of the track for these either side of the station is still extant under the...

    The Railways

Aston Signaling Centre en-route to New St Station:- Look to the right of the door - it still has its original "Vauxhall Shunt Frame" sign! I wonder if this is the only genuine signal box still working in the Birmingham area? Off the top of my head I cannot think of another one.......

    IN OUR GARDEN 2024

Took the dog for a walk at the Streetley side of Sutton Park yesterday evening, and came across these three Exmoor Ponies - tame as anything, beautiful creatures!! We were able to get within 3-4 yards of them and they did not bat an eyelid:-

Miller St the last bus to depart was...

HI Radiorails - I had already noticed a lack of info on these images, with many which have labels that are incorrect and quite a few with no labels at all. Most are also in low resolution - scanned around 14 years ago. It can be a interesting puzzle to work out the locations and the approximate...

Miller St the last bus to depart was...

I was passing Miller St the other day and accidently took the wrong turning.... Here is the old admin building that butts onto the Miller St permanent way yard:- Note the circled area - in close up:- Question folks:- a) Could this be a remnant of the tram system overhead wiring? b) If yes -...
