I can only say that I was told that the bus was celebrating VJ Day. (Why would they cut down a "double decker" for the occasion ?). Like so many people of my vintage, (I was born '41), my brain is cluttered with early memories of WW2.

That looks like the bus I have in infant memory. My Dad took me up to the Maypole terminus to see a bus, just like that one, covered in fairy lights. I was told it was decked out to celebrate V J Day. I can still see the driver, smiling at me. I must've been 3 years old.

It's "Mum" in this part of Cheshire too. Funnily enough, when I was in the Army I was told the correct way to address the Queen, (just in case, like!). You were to start off by saying "Your Majesty" and from then on you called her "Mum". I wonder what Prince Wagga calls her ?

You're right Jim, I was told that the workforce didn't like the J-H at all and it showed in the poor quality of the car. No, it was the 3000, perhaps later models, that I was told Jensen's did work on.

I loved the Chicken&Mushroom pies back in the day, they had their own special taste. Fleur de Lis pies developed into quite a craze I recall, they seemed to sell them all over the place, a shop opened in Town selling them exclusively. Sadly, I can't remember where.

The Matador was an Artillery tractor during the war and in the late 50s, in my Regiment there were few of them still in use as ammunition trucks, the 5.5in Medium guns by then being towed by Leyland (Martians?).
