Those “unofficial” exhaust jobs were known as “foreigners” to those working in the shop. It was remarkable how many foreigners there were!

Probably by and for those with an interest in shipping. Rail was certainly becoming the preferred way to ship, they could hear the footsteps and wanted to provide more services and access.

By 1888 the railways were in full swing providing faster and more timely transportation of both goods and people!
