    Rivers: River Tame

Such a melancholy feeling when looking at #86 & #87. I understand why bridges cannot be built the same but at the very least they could have some character!

What beautiful bridges were built in yesteryear!

I think it is amazing how/where my parents kept things hidden at Christmas time for my sister and I.

    HS2 progress 2020 and beyond

So sad, 9 or 10 years late let alone the short fall in expectations to performance (results). I hope the powers that be can bring themselves to relook their methodology.

    HS2 progress 2020 and beyond

I think you/they need to put the brutal facts on the table and cast opinions aside. Look at the Chunnel, 30 years on and it’s still not meeting expectations (or where they pipe dreams). HS2 is 5 or 6 times the Chunnel if you are lucky. Something has to be finished but certainly not with the...

    HS2 progress 2020 and beyond

Absolutely agree! There are a couple of things going, the increase in travelers (and what is the future looking like) and time. From a distance it looks like you have a lot of traffic at rush hours and then quiet, unutilized assets, very in efficient. As many progressive producers do, manage...

Ponds Tools Steelhouse Lane Corporation Street

A little after my time, late 50’s early 60’s, apprentices could buy anything Moore & Wright and possibly Starratt at work, so much a week from our pay. We did get a little discount but it allowed us to get our toolbox equipped quickly. All informal of course!

Good point! I was just reading about the Chunnel and the £££€€€ involved there. Unfortunately (as much as at least I thought it was a good idea) the benefits and utilization have fallen short. HS2 is a much bigger project all funded by the UK, fingers crossed!

    Lucas Great King Street memories

I would agree with your comments Mort! Recently I did a quick study on car manufacturers in the UK, there are few remaining. Just this morning I was reviewing in a US industry journal that Land Rover, Mini and Jaguar sales have declined significantly, primarily because of reliability. In fact...

    Lucas Great King Street memories

What was the root cause of the demise of such a wonderful company? It seems as though similar occurrences happened throughout that industry in Britain?
