I found this from 1855 but may be a different Foster family.

In its own way its as fascinating as those you find in a mediterranean country, no sign of any flowers though :)

    Unknown Locations

At the risk of starting another "No. 8 bus location" thread, I have always been intrigued by the location of this Bill Dargue photo titled "an alley near Aston Cross". After a bit of map checking involving the width of the alley and the angle of the houses in the distance I would like to suggest...

    Temple Street

My Gt-Gt-Grandfather had premises (rented I imagine) at No. 23 Temple Street, I always wanted to know what this shop would have looked like. This was in 1852 so very unlikely there would be a photograph in existence, I found this drawing on the odd fellows hall thread, the Mudie shop on the...

    Villa Road Handsworth

I'm sure, like myself, many become nostalgic when viewing the sepia toned image, in reality the modern image (if the vehicles were removed) but sepia toned, adds something to this google view.

    Park Lane...Aston

I'm getting closer to having a photo of No. 143 (Keight's bicycle shop), this was sent to me today by a relative who I have recently renewed contact with after 70 years. We used to play in the back garden of 143, we would have been about 5 and can both recall swatting flies with a rolled up...

    National Library of Scotland maps

Just an observation but on the Georeferenced maps there are certain areas not displaying house numbers e.g. Rocky Lane, Holland Road, Cromwell Street Scholefield Street. Luckily, on the Map Finder option the house numbers are displayed. I came across this because I am planning to do an update...

Temporary churches, prefabricated churches, tin tabernacles, iron churches, iron chapels

This one appears to show a larger house to the right of the church but footprint is not a good match. EDIT: Appears on both Kelly's of 1908 and 1912 so doubtful if this is the one.
