No you didn't read me wrong Lyn, I was going on this 1950s map which clearly shows the gatehouse with entry and exit (same footprint as the current buildings) and the building marked as 'Hospital'.

I'm fairly certain it is the entrance to the school Lyn unless it has been taken over by IMI since June 2024. This link says former IMI works. https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1432020

I missed that one, well spotted.

Looking at streetview the frontage is certainly part of the hospital but the main school isn't

    Franchise St

It's now Eden Boys' School Lyn but I think it's a different building.

An aerial view of Franchise Street (1937). Part of the the hospital shown was the site for 'Broomfield', (owner George Kynoch).

Bromford House Birchfield Road Six Ways Lozells Birchfield

I wonder if it was rebuilt after the fire? I have found this entry on the 1896 electoral register but it could be for No. 6 built on the site after demolition of Bromford (Bromfield) House.

    Six Ways Aston

This is an aerial view from 1920 (very poor quality), certainly no sign of the big house by then.

    Factory Road - 1854?

This could be relevant Pedro, the railway would have cut through Factory Road around the time in question, can I ask where you found the information about Foster's buildings in Park Road? It could be that the top end of Park Road used to be Factory Road.

    Cutler's Builders - Cosehill Street

There is no Cutler listed in Coleshill Street (Kelly's 1921), could it be mis-transcribed for Cateswell Road ?

    Factory Road - 1854?

There is a William Foster on the 1841 census so perhaps the building was named after him.

    Factory Road - 1854?

A couple of items to get the thread started. Factory Road is on the 1851 census also but does not appear to mention 'Foster's Building'.

    TILTON Road, Small Heath

A couple of photographs of Tilton Road the other side of Garrison Lane (the part not shown on the aerial photograph). Tilton Road school is still there, part of it is now a mosque.

    TILTON Road, Small Heath

An aerial view (1934) & map of Tilton Road (1950s), unfortunately all the photographs are centred around the Whitworth Works and do not show the southern end of Tilton Road

    Hurst Street

Hi Col, I have posted an aerial view of Hurst Street on the Hurst Street thread, perhaps you can spot the building

    Hurst Street

An aerial view from 1935. The spot indicates the Birmingham Hippodrome.

    Charlotte Street

That factory was James Cond (Printers) Lyn on Charlotte Street, company was wound up in 1989 but the building is still there. If member Pica is still using this site I'm sure this photograph would be of great interest as their grandparents lived at #102.

    Hockley street

It's the Bloore & Piller Factory (Brass Foundry) Lyn, where Hockley Street meets Brearley Street.
