    OLD BIRMINGHAM PHOTOS FROM STEVEBHx

#1426 Landor Street railway bridge. The shiny black car with a Smethwick number plate from 1960/1 is a Ford Consul Mk2, the van disappearing up the road is a Ford 5/7cwt based on the then current Anglia, a little bit of one of those is just seen behind the opening on the left, and the larger...

Scams: Telephone, email, texts, other 2021

There is an article in this month’s Which magazine, going into this type of scam. Much as I should like to post a copy for your attention, I would probably then have copyright lawyers chasing after me with flaming swords or something, but they can’t stop me from warning you. The columnist, a...

From the left front, Austin or Morris 15cwt van with a roller shutter back door. Thames 10/12cwt van, the black Austin saloon might be an A55 Cambridge or the bigger A95 Westminster. On the right, a BMC LD 30cwt van, a truck that I can’t do, a Thames ET6, and a Big Bedford truck, everything else...

Apologies if you are already ahead of me, but look up Aviva’s number for yourself, don’t use the one on the letter unless it’s the same.

I saw my friend this morning, and am pleased to say that he seems more like his normal self. He was moaning about the length of time it is taking to get his laptop cleaned up!

    OLD BIRMINGHAM PHOTOS FROM STEVEBHx

It has the Fiat badging on the bottom rh corner of the tailgate I think. I did check. According to what I have read subsequently, the Fiat 124 was in production from 1966 to 1974, and the Lada commenced in 1974 following the Fiat’s demise. Since it is a 1974 picture I would stick with my Fiat...

    OLD BIRMINGHAM PHOTOS FROM STEVEBHx

A Mk X Jaguar faces the camera, a Reliant Scimitar GTE faces away behind a 1.8 Morris Marina, and the coach is a Plaxton Panorama but no idea whose chassis it sits on. The only slightly unusual car in the car park is a Fiat 124 estate which looks so new that it hasn’t had time to rust away yet...

I encountered a neighbour of long standing last week on one of my dog walks. He is in his late eighties and has always been a person who had my respect, both as a decent human being, and, as a retired lecturer, an intelligent man. He told me that he had just been scammed, the old computer...

The crumpled Saloon is indeed a Mk2 Cortina, the challenge was for the headlamp in the bottom right hand corner, a Mk1 Granny undoubtedly, I had one, but now I’m married to one!

https://www.handh.co.uk/auction/lot/38-1973-ford-granada-30-gxl/?lot=25394&sd=1 It may not be this exact model, but it is certainly a Mk1 Granada, mine was a bit lower down the food chain, a 2.0L estate.

A Mk4 Zephyr, an Anglebox and a Hillman Super Minx on the ramps. The car almost obscured by the big Ford is a Standard Vanguard Phase 3.

Behind the MG could be a NSU Ro80, and behind the Cortina is a BMC J2 van, which appears to have GPO Telephones engineer’s van modifications, so is likely badged as a Morris.

2nd a-z jab for both of us tomorrow at the Staffs County Showground. I wonder if they’ll open the bar this time!

I am sorry, but I have a cut-off point of about 1975, after which all cars become formless blobs. That may be due to the way my brain works, or, perhaps, they may all be formless blobs, see above.

    OLD BIRMINGHAM PHOTOS FROM STEVEBHx

NOF is a Ford Corsair 2000E, the estate car behind it looks very odd but may be an 1100/1300 BMC, then Escort, Herald, Toyota, Ford Zephyr 6, and a Mini pickup.
