Re: Birmingham History WAS IT A " PORKIE ". ( 1942 - 1943 ish ) . As kids one of our roaming / adventure areas was the open fields of " Old Oscott Hill ", Birmingham. At this time there were fields on both sides of the road with banked hedge rows and road side ditches. The only buildings...

Re: Birmingham History As you say Paul. Numerous buses and a huge variety of ' Cross City Routes' available. For local City travelling it would almost have been a ' Sin ' at that time to ' Lust' after a Car. What a cracker anyway. No initial purchase cost of a Car. No Car repair costs...

To oldMohawk. I've to-day posted a painting/photo ( IPad style ). Bearing in mind the problems I've encountered with a mixture of up-side " thumbnails " etc, etc. I tried this latest photo post to the Forum by bringing up the original painting/photo from my IPad and then re-photoing this image...

Re: Birmingham History We played the ' Jews Harp ' ( ouch ). There was a period ( around the 1940's ) when a bit of a musical ' fad ' arrived up our end of Brum. Some of us kids had tried the mouth organ ( with limited achievement) and some had even ventured into trying to play the piano ( no...

Re: Birmingham History THE CODE. Kingstanding ( 1940 ). Mom's and Dad's gathered to make the decision regarding whether to allow their children to be evacuated or not. The decision in General was made to accept the evacuation. My Dad suggested to me that when I sent any letter home that I...

Evening moHawk. I did a little experiment only yesterday . I ' rotated ' the photo stored in my IPad (180 degrees). Was tempted to copy this and send it to-day but I wasn't too sure what the out come might have been so as you see I've posted the ' original ' IPad photo. See what happens now...

This previous posting is identical to the original ( No 1 post ). BUT. As experimented with and tried out by ' oldMohawk ' it appears that IPad viewers interested will need to ' tap ' on to the upside down thumbnail picture to expose the full screen picture ( the right way up ). For Laptop...

To oldMohawk. Sunset painting problem ( loss of full size painting image ). I wonder if it is possible that the ' edited ' exercise might have something to do with it. It seemed to operate OK previously.
