I vaguely remember there was a homemade sweet shop shop somewhere between the Red House and the Old Crown at Digbeth, run by a really grumpy old lady.
No, Raggy Allens was in Garrison Lane, more or less opposite Camp St. By one of the entrances to the big tip.
The Snooker hall was on Bordesley Green, about half a mile further up on the same side.
On the left would have been the Elite picture house, not bombed, demolished in the 60s . on the right was the entrance to the little tip, not sure if there was ever a building there.
Got a feeling her name was Mrs Cox.......dunno why, years before my time.

I been looking for a photo of the' Big Spanner' T W Williams advert which was in Cattell Rd, almost opposite that shop for ages.

The Sailors Return, which was at the junction of Watery La / Garrison La. Function room was supposed to be aunted by a soldier. Its was demolished long time ago, but I wonder if anything strange happens in the building thats there now - Halfords I think..........

Didnt tilton rd girls have to take it in turns to cook an evening meal for the Headmaster, who then ate it in a flat attached to the school.

Snooker hall is next door to the site of the Elite. I can remember it, but only as a derelict building.
Last time I looked, you could still see some green tiles on the outside of the wall, which mustve been the inside of the cinema.
What is puzzling me is the building lying back on the right hand side with a bit of a hedge in front. It looks as though it could be a church or chapel but I cannot remember it although I was born and grew up in the area. Can anyone put me out of my misery?
