    Sweets We Used To Have

    Licorice imps, came in a little box, decorated with a pattern a bit like a tin of Brasso. I vaguely remember there was a homemade sweet shop shop somewhere between the Red House and the Old Crown at Digbeth, run by a really grumpy old lady.

    No, Raggy Allens was in Garrison Lane, more or less opposite Camp St. By one of the entrances to the big tip. The Snooker hall was on Bordesley Green, about half a mile further up on the same side.

    On the left would have been the Elite picture house, not bombed, demolished in the 60s . on the right was the entrance to the little tip, not sure if there was ever a building there.

    Forgot about that place. Used to have some name bands on there in the early - mid 70s. Second only to Barbarellas on that score from what I remember.

    Snooker hall is next door to the site of the Elite. I can remember it, but only as a derelict building. Last time I looked, you could still see some green tiles on the outside of the wall, which mustve been the inside of the cinema.
