    Small Heath

I remember em both shops well, Fos Bros for school clothes, McGauleys for airfix models and bike bits, and a manager who looked like the bloke who used to do tomorrows world. There was a tobacco shop next door that used to sell Joysticks, sort of a 10" long park drive. I got literally dozens...

    Small Heath

Yeah, used to get groundbait there for fishing. Could ever see how a seed merchant could make much money in a location surrounded by back to back houses though !

    Bordesley

First location, so I'm told, would have been what you would have seen if you drove under bordesley bridge and turned left away from town.

    Garrison Lane Pubs

Not Garrison La how I remember it......... Wonder where those houses could have been. Only place I can think of is either where the park is, or where the Holmes flats are. Can anybody decipher the chalked writing on the wall ?

    Garrison Lane Pubs

On the subject of Garrison La, you might find these interesting. I can remember a shop that was supposed to be haunted, about half way between Tilton Rd and Venetia rd, on the same side. Could have just been a kids wind up though.

    The Blitz

    German Fighter machine guns bus

There used to be chunks out of the bricks at Wimbush'e in Little Green La, I was told they were from a german fighter straffing it........ Also, I was told that A german fighter fired on children on the swings at Garrison lane Park. Anybody else heard them, or were they just leg pulls ?

    Coventry Road Police station

Although Fosters was a large shop, tha club had 2 floors above it, I think he top one was petty big, so it could have been over part of the cop shop and if Lencop says so, he's more than likely right.

    Coventry Road Police station

The entrance was the other side of Foster Bros to the Police Station. I thought the club was above the shop.

    Coventry Road Police station

Was between Foster Bro's and a Newsagents. I can remember my mother telling me that it was haunted when I was a kid. Only a vague memory now, but something to do with the cells, which she either said she, or someone she knew used to have a job cleaning.

    Where is This? 161

I dont reckon British Restaurant, Clothes fashions are 60s, there are at least 2 males with long hair, not a factory canteen, most people are wearing warm coats, one is wearing a hat, no overalls, no sideburns, so office types. As a guess, Lyons cafe, not sure if it was New St or Waterloo St...

    Sweets We Used To Have

Early chewing gum contained parrafin wax, which would stay in your digestive system mor eor less for ever, probably why old fogies like me remember the 'old wives tales' about how it could kill you if you swallowed it. I'm sure I read somewhere that you could gauge thje state of the economy...
