Richard, I had a big Vauxhall given to me once,I think it was a Velox c1954,it had a busted gearbox,so I had to drive it about 10 mile in reverse where a garage in King Heath, put in a recon.gearbox for £7.However,the body work was as rotten as a pear, something to do with naff steel...

I don't understand it either Lyn,could it be something to do with brown envelopes changing hands ???. Any way, me babby,it's a pity that a few people like you couldn't be on the "planning commitee"...but then, you are too honest, logical and you care about your home town.:):).

    Rose and crown..hospital/brearley st

Lyn, You clearly share my very healthy disregard for all authority.:) Now we have these same city fathers, telling us to recycle...like they invented it.:( When this restoration work was done, the men on the job must have spent a lot of time, cleaning the mortar off the damaged bricks,so they could...

    Rose and crown..hospital/brearley st

Lyn, Look at the two photo's together, what wonderful restoration work,a bricklayer who could blend that brickwork was a craftsman. And as you say so many buildings could have been saved, with just a little foresight, and the use of skilled men.

George W Davies (royal Glosters in photo)

Rachel, After my army service with the regulars,I was on the reserve...but I can't remember which one. As it was a bit dodgy, and I could be recalled at anytime, I transfered to the T.A.Royal Artillery, they were for home defense only...:):):).

George W Davies (royal Glosters in photo)

Well,he was a "Z" reservist, they were men who had served during the war,and were liable for recall in an emergency,so,he may not have been listed as on the strengh of the 1st.batt.regulars ,but he was with them anyway. His home posting would have been at what is now, Imjin Barracks in...
