    The crew of H.M.S.Birmingham the third were invited to Brum.and given the freedom of the city,this involves being allowed to draw a sword in the city,and also to drive sheep down the street,(very useful). H.M.S.Birmingham had to berth at Birkinhead during this event...the closest port to Brum.

    There is also some doubt as to whether Michael Barrett was guilty,he was probably in Scotland at the time of the bombing of the Clerkenwell prison...for which he was hung.     The White Horse pub Harborne

    The White Horse was a regular drop in spot for me,in the late 50s and early 60s.It was a very cosy and friendly pub.:).However,what I remember the most at that time was the landlady...she was drop dead gorgeous:):):)...and she must have been twenty years older than me.:rolleyes:.

    Phil, Did a count up once,and I would guess there were about twenty pubs within a 10 minute walk of where I lived in Aston,and I do remember most of them...well it was my home and my playground,a nice neck of the woods to grow up in.
