Bringing us back to the more conventional is this fine view from Stitcher of a preserved Morris Commercial. Who remembers these?

    Another needless pub name change.

After all the years as the Kings Arms at Alcester Lanes End (known to many as 'the nob') the whizz kids have renamed it "The Crown" as a Sizzling pub. Meanwhile down at Stirchley the Dogpool Hotel after a couple of other name changes is now "The Dogpool".:confused2:

    Film Scores by John Barry

Out of Africa by The Shadows takes some beating although I prefer John Barry's 60's music by the John Barry Seven. The Juke Box Jury signature tune 'Hit and Miss' in particular if you experts can get it over from youtube for us. I never tire of hearing my original 45rpm of it.

Many of us are familiar with trolleybuses but how about a trolleylorry (or should it be trolleytruck)????. I know nothing about this weird creature, but think it may be Russian, although the photo was sent to me from the Czech Republic. Imagine these on the streets of Brum!!!

    Steam and Commercial Vehicles

Thanks Lloyd, my sister sent me seven pics in total on a sort of Round Robin thing headed 'The German Artists are at it again' which must be they as the two you posted were included. I did think I might post them one at a time so there are another four available which you probably have.

    Pineapple tarts

I don't like them, but my brother in law does and he has had them from Marks & Spencers in Solihull. If you are on the South side of Birmingham, they do them at Beckett's Bakery at Wythall.

    See Birmingham by Post Card

Many Edwardian photo studios and photo developers and printers would produce double weight postcard size prints as actual postcards if required. This is a new direction for this thread which could see it carrying on for a long time to come. Going back to a place view, here is a Victorian era...

    Midland Red Early Days

Just dropped in to catch up on the old Red thread after a week exploring Jersey. Re #1269, the ex Harpers RTL. This fine photo by Paul Roberts, a former Harpers driver and workmate of Lloyd and myself at Digbeth, shows it as fleet No. 3 which suggests it was 2203 with Midland Red. Note the...

    Birmingham on Sea

Good to see that John, reminded me of the old White Funnel paddlers that did the same run when I was a kid. Has the P.S.Waverley been round the Bristol Channel this Year?

    Birmingham on Sea

Now here is something you don't see in Burnham-on-Sea these days. Back in 1892 our great grandparents could have a flutter on the gee gees at the races on Burnham beach. The horses here are too fast for the old plate camera to cope with. Sea looks a bit rough as well but at least the tides only...

    Birmingham buses

Here is one Fleetline that has come back, now owned by Yardley Wood Bus Club. It is ex Birmingham City Transport 3472 built in 1965 which originally worked on the 27 route through Bournville where it was photographed here on it's first outing following 10 years of restoration. Last Sunday it...

A West Midlands Travel 1993 Adventure

On the road, tram style and [1] we pass car 69 that brought us up earlier in the day. Our tram steadily filled up as did the trailing car so that by the time we reached Liberec railway station on the edge of the city centre we decided to evacuate and walk the remaining journey. The crowd waiting...

A West Midlands Travel 1993 Adventure

A glimpse back at the cable car [1] and now we had actually reached the elusive shiny tower [2] on top the Jested Mountain that we had seen in the distance from the Liberec Airport site. It contained a luxury hotel and a seperate self service restaurant to which we made our way for lunch. I...
