    Be interesting to know what Carl Chinn makes of that one. Given that Birmingham seems to have grown from a settlement by the River Rea in Digbeth - perhaps a true Brummie comes from Digbeth.

    Unfortunately your attachment won't open for me davpen. What did it show please?. I only knew the Standerwick coaches to Blackpool the in 1960's - double deckers called "Gay Hostess", (not a name they would use today:)) They had onboard refreshments served and toilet facilities.

    Then there was Lion Ointment to get rid of veruchas and corns, and Solith crystals in the bath for your rheumatism and sulphur tablets but I can't remember what they were for - other than to break wind that resembled Saltley gasworks.

    Top right hand corner this time Trevor, I had one of those. My first car was a second hand 1959 Vauxhall Victor in 'adobe beige' a sort of cream colour with powder blue upholstery. Pure rock 'n roll on wheels!

    It's That Bus Again! 2441 in original as delivered 1942 condition complete with masked headlamps and white edged mudguards en route from Brum to Stafford. Note the Birmingham City Transport Inner Circle 8 (Daimler COG5 ?) in the background.

    I lodged in Billesley in the1960's and there met my one and only forever, she was the girl next door. We got married in 1967. How the time flies when you are happy (but she dosen't help me clean me car now like she did that first day we met )

    Dek it's the excellent food, drink and welcoming atmosphere that make it worth finding your way to the Hollybush. We go there a lot but have to book for a weekend meal so gives some idea of how popular the place is.. Mike
