    I am still searching for details on Jane Wheatley as mentioned a few years ago, would anyone know where the parish records for St Thomas would be kept, it would be useful to know for when I come back on a visit to Birmingham again...thanks for any help given.

    One shilling and fourpence ha'penny return when I used to go....I recall there was uproar brcause it had risen from One Shilling and Three pence....what a rip off we thought....but it was super fun and I'm so pleased I was able to be involved....my mom would go mad when I returned...rather mucky...

    Although they were in Addison Road they were opposite Arnold Genders which was where I worked on Alcester Road, Bradbury were also a part of their sales dealer in Woodthorpe Road...Greyhound Service Staion was also very near to them but again Greyhound was on Alcester Road .

    Wheatley the funeral director was Nathaniel Wheatley and came from Hinckley originally, Richard Wheatley's family (my maternal line) came from Twycross.Leics.

    Having a mooch through my photos, I found a couple where a pal and I went back in June 1981 to Tamworth station and field.....the warehouse photos were taken on the advice of the then Station Master...who pointed out they were due to be demolished to make way for the by pass......many months...

    I think you need to go back somewhat.......the Princess Royal class...were NEVER streamlined and we just knew them as 'Royals'....46202 was the Turbomotive....remember seeing that in the Harrow/Wealdstone accident with Jubillee 'Windward Islands' And the first lot of Coronation Class were...

    Yeah Pistonvalve.....we found a wrinkle ......a train used to go out at 8.45 and straight there non stop.......and got us into Tamworth for the '9 o'clock stopper'....usually a good Jubilee 'Cop'.........sat in that field a few times wrapped in my bike cape with it pouring with rain....remember...

    Ooooh Yesssss!!! Platform 6...and sometimes 1A..........my goodness....what memories!!!! I used to be there in the early 1950's and sometimes go for a treat to Tamworth....One shilling and Three ha'pence return....then they put it up to One shilling and Fourpence Ha'penny.....didn't we think...
