    Hi Lyn, My husband, Stanley Thomas Terry attended Upper Thomas Street school. He was born in 1931 so would have been at the school in approximately 1936. He was evacuated to Wales when he was 10 years old so that would have been around 1940/41. He lived in Aston. This is from my memory as...

    Blue Coat School

    Yanto, The Blue Coat School was based in Harborne so maybe Harborne Library hold some records relating to the school? I do not know whether the school is still in use today - maybe for some other purpose.

    My brother used to tell me to 'stop grizzeling' (crying) anyone heard of that one? My Gran used to send me to the Outdoor with a jug and money to collect her tipple (can't remember what it was though - so many years ago !

    The Valley pub, Billesley

    I remember the air show on Billesley common all those years ago.. I found the Harrier Jump Jet interesting and took photos on my small camera. The Vulcan Bomber flew over my house in Cole Valley Road and I remember the plane causing the windows to rattle. Happy memories.....

    Handlebar, I also seem to remember Mr Cooper or similar sounding name Coope on a photograph of the Station Road football team together with Mr Stanton, but I guess, that also was lost with the others.

    Handlebar, I think the photo of the football team posted on the Forum disappeared when the site was hacked quite a while ago. The photo showed Mr Stanton, Headmaster and Mr Abel, Deputy Head.

    Painting Of Old Market Hall

    Eric your very good painting brought back memories of going with my Dad to the Market Hall on a Saturday afternoon when he would have a pot of jellied eels and I would have a dish of cockles and take home a brown paper bag containing penny winks - lovely !

    Paternoster Lifts

    Judy, I worked at Aston University and remember the paternoster lifts - very precarious ! The ones in the South Wing were eventually bricked up. I imagine they were considered a safety hazard.

    My late brother worked at the mint. He was a machine tool fitter by trade and obviously kept vital equipment working.

    The video brought some lovely memories back for me. I shopped for my vegetables in the outdoor market and if my memory serves me right, carrots were 3 lb a bob!
