Petrol pumps & filling stations of the past

I remember a Hawthorn garage on the Chester road opposite Sutton park. I Remember going there in the early seventies, it was an Alfa Romeo agency. It is now called Sutton Park Renault.

    Hybrid & electric cars

Glad you are enjoying your Honda hybrid. When a traction battery 'fails' in any modern electric vehicle, replacing the whole battery is not the only option. Traction batteries are made up of separate individual cells. The individual cells can be tested and faulty cell(s) replaced, saving a...

    Computer help

The info was sent to me via another media site. I suppose the rumour came from the expert down the pub who's dad knew someone who drove an electric milk-float for the co-op.

    Computer help

I have a Podpoint system fitted at home. I was fortunate that when I purchased my first Nissan Leaf 5+ years ago, Nissan were installing home chargers for free. I have not had any problems with it to date.

    Computer help

Yes. The Podpoint app is easy enough to download and register. Like most apps these days, when you have used it a few times, it remembers you, this saves you having to log-in with passwords etc. Whether the 15min free charge will continue after November I don't know.

I don't know who has the ultimate decision on the unit of electricity at Tescos. The charging points are a joint venture between Tescos, Podpoint and Volkswagen

    Computer help

Could be the Podpoint network is having problems. Try asking in Tesco customers services if they are aware of any issues. I use my local Tesco to charge my Leaf and as yet I have not had any difficulties. From November, charging at Tescos using the Podpoint stations will no longer be free.

    Post Office Factory. Fordrough Lane

Here's a link to a Youtube video that explains how Colossus came about and the important part it played in WWII. The content is very techy to the point of being boring. Skip through the boring bits and after an hour a Post Office engineer called Thomas Harold Flowers is mentioned. If it...

I must dig out a video of me being transported in a Tuk-Tuk whilst in India. Not something I wish to repeat.

I wonder why that form of transport didn't catch on in UK? Thanks for the pic, I don't recognise him. Is this the same person who made 2LS front brakes for Triumph/Bsa's?

    Motorcycle Shops

Hi Morturn, your location and description of the house fits into my image from when I visited in the sixties. Any idea how he made a living, was he able to survive on the sales of motorcycle parts alone?

    Motorcycle Shops

Does anyone remember Rob (Bob) Collier of Erdington? Bob lived in Wood end road. I visited his house during the mid-sixties with a friend who was after motorcycle spares. I recall that the garden resembled a scrap yard with bikes and cars stacked on top of each other. I can't recall meeting Bob...
