    Stereos, Hi-Fi’s, Record Players, Gramophones

I think they had a beam hat was fixed in the centre and the outer edge of the deck. The stylus traversed along the beam. They were a nightmare. I think I removed more than I fitted.

    Stereos, Hi-Fi’s, Record Players, Gramophones

In the mid sixties records were so popular that when I worked at A T Gittins (Lucas Agents) in Irving st, we used to fit record players in cars. They were made by Radiomobile/Motorola. They were suspended under a car's dashboard on a multi-spring base. They were never successful.

    THE COST OF PROGRESS

Similar story all over I'm afraid. My sister-in-law lived in a village in Kent. When I first started going down there in the 70's there were two garages and a petrol station, a dozen pubs or more, several butchers, greengrocers, post office, newsagent etc I think the first and the biggest blow...

    Elmdon Airport Birmingham International Airport

The weather at Heathrow this morning was awful. It was never intended for them to take off side by side, but in opposite directions from the same runway was suggested at one point. There is a video on Youtube of the last one taking off but the weather prevented a clear picture. The last one is...

The nearest train station to New Spring St would have been Hockley, a ten/fifteen minute walk. What number New Spring St did your parents live at?

    Bow Street, Horsefair

Car transport is frowned upon in Birmingham. We have too many cars in the city and Birmingham planners take a positive view towards developers who build houses without any provision for car parking. If a new development is within easy walking distance of public transport, shops and other...
