    Battery Power

That's the one. I must have used dozens of these. I could never afford to buy a new one so I used to rely on neighbours giving me there old ones to tinker with.

    Battery Power

Yes. That's another one I used. I also remember using one battery that had different voltage tappings on it. I tried various battery's to power an electric cart I made or to power a 'Lucas King of the road' 12volt spotlight. I knew nothing of 'Ohms Law' or electrics in general. I just kept...

    Battery Power

I have a box for the batteries. I order a hundred at a time because they are so much cheaper to purchase that way. In the box there will be - AA - AAA - Cr2032 - plus all the other popular ones. Then the inevitable happens, the remote to the television packs in and guess what, of all the...

    Battery Power

Battery waste is horrendous. I have a 'bin' in the kitchen specifically for batteries. I agree about 'Poundland' batteries.

    Battery Power

Great pic of the radio and the batteries. 'Ever-Ready' that's the make I couldn't think of. I used Ever-Ready batteries on numerous electrical projects I used to experiment with as a teenager, they went flat very quickly if I remember.

    Battery Power

The news that a battery factory may be built in Coventry got me thinking. The use of batteries to power many things in our life is increasing rapidly. In the 50/60s I can only remember having a torch or a transistor radio that were battery powered. I have listed the items that I have today...

The Ford Mustang on the front is interesting. Not taxed or M.O.T since 1985. 5 litre v8 engine. Wish I owned it.

    OLD BIRMINGHAM PHOTOS FROM STEVEBHx

What a great pic. December 1977 my girlfriend at the time (still my wife) was driving her Morris 1000 along Lichfield road with myself as passenger when she skidded on ice and demolished the lamp post that we can see here.

    Notable Brummies

In 2014 I stopped at a hotel in India that had been converted from a boat building yard. Walking around the hotel I found a wall plaque in memory of 'George Brunton' from Birmingham. I have attached a pic of the plaque and a link to the hotel 'The Brunton Boatyard Hotel'...

    Townies

I can remember an incident in the 'Locarno' Hurst st. in the late sixties one Friday night. Me and my mate Phil were doing our best at chatting up a couple of girls (failed again) when one of them said "We don't go out with Townies." "Since when did we become Townies" asked Phil. "Dunno mate"...

    Rover Sd1

Remember 'Chemico' grinding past, coarse and fine in one tin. I think it used to be made in Shirley. I still have a tin in the garage for when my motorcycles need attention. I remember a 'Sykes-Pickavant' machine that cut the valve seats, the valves and lapped the valves in.

Top 10 Car production 1950-2019 by Countries.

Nothing did go wrong. We produce more cars now than in the sixties and seventies. We are a favoured country amongst car manufacturers to build here. Who would have thought that 'BMW's engine factory in Coleshill produces every 4 cylinder engine for the 'world' market.

    Witton Cemetery Sections1 and 5

I have a relative who was buried in a Pauper's/Common grave at Witton cemetery. I visited the site about three years ago. I found the staff in the visitors centre to be very helpful. I gave them as many details as I could and they located the burial site for me. The 'site' is a rather large...
