    Old street pics..

Hi Carolina, I believe Phil is right about Elmdon Farm being by Elmdon Lane, which is on the same side of the road as The Old Airport, but the photo in post #1027 labelled Elmdon Village Farm is of a building on the opposite side of the Coventry Road, (heading towards Sheldon) it is in between...

    Stechford Area

Hi Phil, Dave is right. According to Wikipedia the Baths were opened on 20 June 1962. Thanks for your earlier comment about Mary's Road Dave :) Lynne

    Stechford Area

Thank you so much Dave, I can see it says Post office now you have pointed it out..I really must get my glasses changed !! I wonder what date the photo before was taken as that is the same row of shops. I've also just found it on Google Maps, so next time I pass that way I will know exactly...

    Stechford Area

Hi, A distant Pedlingham ancestor of mine had a Post Office / tobacconists on Station Road, according to a Trade Directory of 1921. Would anyone be able to pinpoint where about it would have been please. I usually use the Old Maps site to locate places, but they seem to have done away with the...

    The Clock - Bickenhill

Hi Toby, Welcome aboard !! Thank you so much for posting your information, it helps a lot. :adoration: It dispels the "Fact File" information that I found and put in post #3 (being built in 1961), because as you were there in 1959, you would have known if it was rebuilt and going with your...

    Central Hall Corporation Street

Thank you for posting this information and the photos Phil, I have always loved the look of the Hall but had no idea what it was used for or what was inside it. I love the Court building too and have been fortunate enough to have had a guided tour around the inside of it.

    brueton sarah

Hi Astonian, I remember looking at this lady for you before, but I can't put my hands on the notes I made unfortunately. I found the Jelf tree on Ancestry to which I believe you refer containing the information about Sarah Brueton and John Hughes, but I can not find any information to back up...

    brueton sarah

Re: sarah brueton Hi Astonian, I havent had much luck with your query I'm sorry to say, I can't find a marriage for John and Sarah which might give any clues for a place to start. Hopefully someone else will have better luck.

    Coventry road Police station.

I would imagine that to be right Neville because that area at one time came under Worcestershire...but hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

    Coventry road Police station.

If I have misread your post Heather, I apologise, but I don't believe 391 was a station, Your William appears to have been living there perhaps as a lodger, his wife was Housekeeper to the Surgeon who lived there. 391 is also a long way from the Coventry Road Station that was being discussed and...

Searching for a street or building....

Bill...I agree with Aston Lad, it is almost impossible. The only breakdowns available for streets that I know of are found in the Enumerators descriptions for each area, but you need to have a good idea of where you are looking for first and it is a tedious process. But as Aston Lad also says...

    Dixon Road School

Hi Bernie, I have just found out that a Great Aunt of mine, who was born in 1901, went to Dixon Road School, so I am really pleased to have found your posting because I was trying to work out roughly when she would have started school. I see that your Grace had attended for 9 years so presumably...

    Birth Searches

Just as a thought and in case you don't already know this..if you are looking at years after 1911, you can search on FreeBMD, but if its before then, then it is as per the answers from the Ladies above.
