As I really hadn't realised that they had demolished the old school. As you say, that does suggest a waste of buildings/resources. It was only built in 1964, so was it really necessary to demolish it, rather than just re-name it? I know there have been problems identified with other school...

It seems everything is up for demolishing in the city centre again, did they not learn anything from the great buildings that they pulled down in the past? It will be such a pity to see this cinema close and what for, yet more flats! :rolleyes:

I tried Camp once (when at junior school) and have avoided it like the plague since. However, after a couple of years, I tried Nescafe and found that to be ok before eventually moving onto Expresso and I have been drinking that for about 20 years now.

I was a regular at The Parasol in the mid/late 70s. Enjoyed the music played by the DJ and we often finished up there, having started the night at The Parisian. It was the pub to be at, in my opinion at the weekend. The Bierkeller was also worth a visit, didn't it have a pool table downstairs...

A very good question and a really nice interesting postcard Viv. Thinking back, there was always a hedge all around the bowling green in the 60's (maybe this was taken shortly after planting), it didn't seem as tall as that though, but perhaps it was later trimmed to around six feet in height...

I was at Villa Park last night and they did a nice tribute to Ian last night (part of which was also shown before the game on ITV). The Dad's Army music was played and some photographs of "Pike" were shown on the scoreboard.
