    tandys...vyse street 1967

Anncie, still around? Would your W.H. Tandy be William Harry Tandy 1843-1908? If so, I have an interest in his brother, James Tandy 1830-1885, as shown on a Public tree. My specific interest is in Louisa Amelia Tandy and proving the link to James. There were a few Louisa Tandy's registered...

    Coventry road Police station.

Closed! I remember it opening. They had a 'key cupboard' which had been screwed to the wall behind the switchboard area. Every morning the cleaners would come in through the Public door, into the Private area, and then request key numbers (whatever.....). We never knew who was doing what so just...

    P.C. David Green

I never met David but I did one day visit his parents to offer my thanks. Following David's death, they kept on eye on the newspapers and, if they saw a report of an Officer injured, then they would send them a paperback and a brief note. After one of my many minor 'mishaps' on returning...

    St Phillips Birmingham Look Ups

Found them on Family Search. Charles Goodwin married Maria Thirlby, St Phillips, 30 Jan 1843. However, am now unable to locate them in any following census record therefore, without additional details from the Church record, I can't really pursue this any further.

    St Phillips Birmingham Look Ups

Thanks for that. Probably not connected as the Father of my John was a Gun Finisher, George, and John was with his parents in 1841. I'm still looking at the possibility of George dying in 1841 and Maria re-marrying in 1843. From FreeBMD, 16, 291 Hannah Birmingham 16291 DIXON Thomas Birmingham...

    St Phillips Birmingham Look Ups

My mistake. Damn fungers! :unconscious: Thanks for the additional information. Something to follow up. What I was really hoping for was information regarding the Father's names, if they were entered in that period - unlikely, or witness names. Again, thanks.

    St Phillips Birmingham Look Ups

Amend that. Just found a marriage for a Maria Thirlby, 1843, Brum 16, 291. I'll have to wade through that another time but, essentially looking for a Birth year of abt 1806.

    St Phillips Birmingham Look Ups

George Thirlby (Thurlby) and Maria Dixon. Does anyone have access to the full record? I've found them in 1841, HO107, Piece 1142, Book 4, Folio 23, Page 11, but not in 1851. There is a Death Q4 1841 which might relate to George but, in that case, what happened to Maria? For Thomas Thirlby...

    farley Elsie May

Re: Lost nan farley I notice that in 1911 she is shown born 1908. There also seem to be large age variations for the parents from 1901 to 1911. Can I ask why you want the Certificate. Surely you can obtain the MMN from one of the other children? I did once read an explanation of how, from the...

Can't read Census address. Local knowledge required.

Well spotted. I'd overlooked that bit but it doesn't get me any further. Their son, Walter John Brown (Baldwin doesn't appear anywhere subsequent) married an Alma Lovett from Nova Scotia and they settled in Brockton, Massachusetts where they had four children. U.S. records, being more detailed...

Can't read Census address. Local knowledge required.

I'm still having trouble with Charlott/Charlotte Brown (nee Whateley). I have the BMD record of her marrying John Brown Q2 1853 but not the Church record. As stated, in 1861 she is in Mott Street, husband missing, and in 1871 at 112 Grosvenor Street West, again husband missing. It is not until...

Does anyone happen to have access to records for this period? I'm looking for any additional information regarding a marriage, 2 Jan 1822, Joseph Cox & Sarah Marigold. LDS films 350496 & 378770. Thanks.

    British newspaper archives

Err. They have been available for at least a couple of years, to my knowledge. Totally free. I've had access to them through being registered with Lancashire Libraries, even though I live in Worcs. Registering with Warks Libraries gave me the same access (apparently, although my shortcut goes to...

    Stechford - The Village

I remember Ray Parfitt. A big Welshman. He was an Inspector at Washwood Heath nick and lived in one of the Police houses just by Hay Mill Police Station. A very likeable bloke. Does anyone remember Mc Knabbs [sp.] Ices opposite the swimming baths? I used to know the daughter of the family. I...

    Holmes - Kendrick - Mellows - Hobday

I’ve got information on three Marriages and would like to know if there is any additional information, i.e. ages, occupation, witnesses, etc, please. 23 May 1795 John Holmes – Mary Kendrick 7 Feb 1799 John Mellows – Maria Hobday and 15 Jan 1826 (I believe) John Mellows – Charlotte Holmes...

Thanks both. And I thought I knew all of the street names in Brum! That one had certainly passed me by. Ken.
