    Paddington Street Aston

Just noticed this thread and realised that, this afternoon, I was updating parts of my "Williams" family and in 1911 they are at 31 Paddington Street. Spookey.....

Baptism in Sedgley but which Church?

I think you'll find you can. From the Family Search opening page. On the second line of headers, 3rd from left is Catalog. Click on that and it will take you to a screen where you can enter the film number. Or, otherwise, simply post the number here.

    St Phillips Birmingham Look Ups

Just noticed that they now accept requests by email but you got there before me.

    St Phillips Birmingham Look Ups

There is another way to get the information. In fact 2 ways. 1. Is to use the LDS Photoduplication Service (Google it). I've learnt recently that there is no longer a charge and that responses are sent by email. The application form is a .PDF file and is a 'bit clunky'. It is intended that it...

    National Burial Index

I've not got a lot of faith in these products. 18 Million records since 1538! A quick search reveals that in the 16th Century the population rose from 3 Million to 4 Million. Given the 'attrition' rate of newly borns at the time, and the early Death rate, even the latter 2/3rd's of that Century...

    St Pauls, Ward End

Does this help So where in Bordesley Green was St Paul's Mission Room? Thinking back, the old Snooker Hall looked as though it might once have been a Church.

Oliver Garage - 278 Chester Road, Castle Bromwich

I'm reading this differently because, to me, 278 Chester Road, Castle Bromwich, would be up by Hurst Lane where the Morrison Petrol Station now stands. The Clock Garage that most us remember was at the junction, Newport Road, Coleshill Road. Mike is the expert with Old Maps but I seem to...

    St Alphege Church Solihull

This may have something to do with it. Perhaps there were periods when it was not available or perhaps it was was considered just bad luck to get married there. Who knows?

Off to town on the 53 bus

I can remember the park behind Charles Road, back in the days when they still had a 'Parkie'. The only Post Office that I recall was at the junction with Little Green Lane, virtually opposite the Snooker Hall. My sister got her 1st job there. And wasn't there a triangular shaped 'refuge' at...

Telephone history: Telephone Service in Birmingham

A request. On behalf of the volunteers that are rebuilding the Railway Station at Broadway. https://broadwaygwsr.blogspot.co.uk/ They are also in the process of restoring a telephone kiosk and are desperately seeking an original Button A/B mechanism/assembly (at a realistic price). Not one...

The Red Lion, 108 & 109 Brearley Street, Birmingham

Cheers Mike. An interesting detail to add to the 'pot'.

The Red Lion, 108 & 109 Brearley Street, Birmingham

Blimey. I've found another one now. The Albion Tavern/Inn, 104 Liverpool Street. Seems I have a 'rellie' that was running that place 1871-1891+ by the name of Charles Hartley.

The Red Lion, 108 & 109 Brearley Street, Birmingham

Thanks all. It was just a long shot. Mike, in relation to another thread, where do you get those maps of old Brum?

The Red Lion, 108 & 109 Brearley Street, Birmingham

I've normally forgotten by the following morning.:unconscious: Another one for the "Does it still exist?"/"Has anyone a photo?" list. The Vine Inn, 224 Cheapside. I have a 'rellie' that was the gaffer there 1871 - 1891 +

The Red Lion, 108 & 109 Brearley Street, Birmingham

Thanks all. I'm not totally au fait with that part of Brum having lived mainly in the East or South areas. Lyn, if you find one.......you know where to send it.

The Red Lion, 108 & 109 Brearley Street, Birmingham

Does it still exist as a building? Are there any photos of the premises? I have a 'rellie' that died there in, wait for it.:smug: 1876.

    tandys...vyse street 1967

Hi. Thanks for replying. I've done quite a bit on the line of Louisa Amelia in the interim. On the subject of William Harry and James being brothers. Mmm. Not too sure about the connection here. Something doesn’t add up. My starting point is Louisa Amelia TANDY (1875- ). In 1901 she is a Niece...

    Prudence Hillman born 1809

CANCEL. Well certainly the bits relating to Saint Martins as I now have the relevant CD. I'll not delete the post as it may be of use to a future Researcher.:sneakiness:

    Prudence Hillman born 1809

From Family Search I can see that Prudence Hillman, daughter of James & Penelope Hillman, was Baptised, St Martin's, 21 Aug 1809. On the same date, Penelope Hillman, born 1803 was also baptised. Baptised at St Martin's on 29 Sep 1800 was a Martha Hillman, same parents. Again on FS, there is a...

Looking for a home and a manufactory in Moseley/Wake Green in the 1840’s and 1850’s

Re: Looking for a home and a manufactory in Moseley/Wake Green in the 1840’s and 1850 You state 'later', what year? It might be possible to follow the "enumerator's walk" to identify the location. If you can provide Census references, it makes it so much easier.
