I must admit I have not tried it for a while, it tried it when W10 first came out. Maybe they have made the W10 ISO size smaller than when it first came out.

    >>>>You cannot upgrade directly from Windows 8 to Windows 10, you need to first upgrade to Windows 8.1 Surely if he has downloaded windows 10 ISO to DVD it is a fresh install and not an upgrade so what is on the hard disk already is not relevant. When I have tried to put Windows 10 ISO on a...

    Windows 10

These problem only occurred when they first released 1809 a few months ago, and then it only happened if you had an unusual setup with your folders (too complex to explain here). However they fixed the problems and re-released 1809 a couple of week ago with no reported major problems.

Flash is on its wayout, and the technology is included in HTML5. However not all web sites use HTML5 yet so some still use Flash. I think YouTube still uses flash (but maybe only for some videos) Note that Flash is now included by default in some Browsers (such as Chrome and Edge) However...

    City Centre Photographs

On another part of that web site above it says about Birmingham Canals "Birmingham wouldn’t have become the industrial juggernaut it was without its canals. Miles upon miles of canals were built to transport water to the city’s factories" Amazing to find out the canals were built to get water...

    City Centre Photographs

Sorry but I dont agree she is right. First, I moved up from London to Birmingham in 1979 and worked near Five Ways roundabout. I used to walk down Broad St some lunch times and it was a dump. I have photographs I took of Broad St in the early 1980s and it was terrible, Secondly, she mentions...

    Demolition of Wholesale Market

A few months ago I walked all around the old Wholesale Markets site taking many photos to capture the area before it is demolished and the whole area redeveloped. I posted them all on the web site called SkyscraperCity. Note many of them are panoramas so they are probably best viewed on a large...

    Fox and Grapes - Digbeth

Are you clairvoyant? How do you know it will be a white elephant, it has not been built yet. How do we know it will be unnecessary, nobody can use it yet so we have no idea of passenger numbers. How do you know it will be pricey to use, no fare details have been published yet. You also say...

    Colonnade Hotel

Makes you want to cry when you see what was demolished in this city. Birmingham has a poor current image when it comes to architecture ("concrete city"), even though we do still have many fine buildings. However if so many other fine buildings had not been knocked down Birmingham could have...

I did a search on "Notepad on startup" and it is a common problem. I though this answer may be the easiest way to fix it. https://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2349128/notepad-files-opens-startup.html

    Packwood House

Update - Looks like it has been removed in the last few minutes Are you sure this photo below is Packwood House? I know it was posted above in March 2017 but I have only just seen it. It is not a view of it that I recognise.

    Road Name Changes

Someone pointed out on another forum that Birmingham is twinned with the city of Lyon in France. In Lyon there is a "Rue de Birmingham" so maybe we are doing a similar thing in Birmingham for Lyon.

    Road Name Changes

While I was walking round the Paradise site over the weekend I saw some council signs stuck on lamp posts giving details of some road name changes in the area. Could not take a photo of it as it was wrapped round a lamp post so almost impossible to read let alone photograph. But I have put...

    Help Please

Who said anything about the Heath and Safety Executive. I meant Cadbury's own Health and Safety people. I am sure Cadburys, and every other large company, will have their own Health and Safety department nowadays.

    Help Please

I was talking to a neighbour the other day and he said when he was young he lived near the Cadbury factory in Bournville. Many of his friends parents worked in the Cadbury factory so when it was a child's birthday they and a few friends were allowed to have a tour round the factory. He went...

Fascinating City Centre Photo - July 1963

Strange that we hear about all the buildings knocked down in Birmingham but I have never heard the St Martins Hotel mentioned. Not a stunning building perhaps, but still attractive, but that roof is amazing and has a French Chateux look about it. Was that building on the left, with all the...
