I thought I recognised it when I first saw it. then when confirmed it was Rotten Park Street realised how I did so. When I left school I worked in the laboratory of McKechnie Bros. also in Rotten Park St. I also think it could have been Docker Bros. but nearly 80 years on who knows !!!

I bought a similar camera years ago and was shocked at the short life of the batteries. For some reason you could not use rechargeable batteries, so gave up on it. The only alternative was using DC supply from electric socket but did not have suitable socket in the garden

Seventy-five Years Ago Today....(and eventually Eighty!)

I was 13 at the time, living in Abbey Road Erdington. I remember helping Dad screw a broomstale to the bedroom window so that he could hang a large Union Jack on the end. We were always "ordered" never to look into it, but as kids how could you resist. The lovely cards, mainly sent from France were so intricate and lovely. Then after Dad...

Reading all this about Barrows reminds me of an embarrasing moment there foe me. At the early stages of the war my mother was ill. I don't know what it was but the doctor told her the best thing to help her was Oysters. the only place to get them from was Barrows. Even then she had to get a...
